About Bluejoint Reedgrass

Bluejoint is a cool-season perennial grass found in wet meadows and prairies. It spreads by creeping rhizomes. Blueish-green in color, with yellow-brown seed heads, this species ranges from 3 to 5 feet in height.

Bluejoint survives best in moist to saturated soils but does not tolerate standing water. It is extremely hardy and mature plants can survive temperatures from -40 to 105 degrees F, and thick mulch and litter build-up. Bluejoint Reedgrass has forage and wildlife value but can tolerate only light to moderate haying or grazing.
