Cool season native bunchgrass with good drought resistance and palatability.  Primarily adapted to the intermountain region where it is used for range seedings, soil stabilization, and reclamation. Bluebunch Wheatgrass works best on medium to coarse soils over 10 inces deep. It is cold tolerant, moderately shade tolerant, and has a high tolerance to fire. 

The best time to plant is early spring for heavy to medium soils and late fall for medium to light soils.
