About Barnyard Grass

Barnyard Grass, is a warm-season grass that is similar to Japanese Millet. It is well adapted to most soil types but does best in wet, marshy, or swampy soils with full or partial sun. This grass works very well for waterfowl food plots because it provides food and cover for a variety of waterfowl species.

It is commonly used as a cover crop in mixes with native grasses or legumes. It can also be used as fodder, but it makes poor hay.
